One particle in a potential -1/r + lambda/r (1-exp(-delta r))

A plot of ionization energy at 0<lambda<2

Ground state ionization energy (i.e. -Re E) as a function of lambda for delta = 0.01, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, 1, 1.2, 1.5, 2. Bold curve is Coulomb energy 1/2 (lambda-1)^2 corresponding to infinite delta. If delta is larger than 1.19 then the potential at lambda=1 (which is Yukawa potential) does not support bound states. At this screening parameter, behavior of the ionization energy near the border of continuum changes from linear to quadratic.
